Dear Members & Friends of Long Island Voice of the Faithful

"COMPROMISE BILL" NEEDED!

LIVOTF has previously endorsed Senate and Assembly bills which

*add clergy to the list of mandatory reporters of child abuse,

*broaden the definition of that abuse, and

*liberalize the statute of limitations to give victims and prosecutors better access to the courts.

While bills have passed individual houses, no bill acceptable to both Senate and Assembly has been written.

In Mid-November, our Lawmakers re-assemble at
"Compromise Sessions"
to decide which bills they will consider. They need to be urged to come up with
one bill
satisfactory to both Senate and Assembly,
that will eliminate this stalemate.

We urge you to write your assemblyman/woman and senator and ask them to come up with an
Omnibus Bill endorsed by both houses.

Members of the Legislative Committee frequent Albany on a regular basis. They assure us that VOTF is known, your letters are read, and the legislators are listening!

We urge you to write again, pressing the Lawmakers to protect our children!
