Future Church: Sr. Christine Schenk, CSJ
A Sister of St Joseph, Christine Schenk formerly worked as a Nurse midwife in Cleveland for 20 years. She is the Executive Director of Future Church, a national coalition of parish centered Catholics working for full participation of all Catholics in the life of the Church. She has led the organization since 1990 when she worked to transform a diocesan network of 28 parishes and 100 parish leaders into a national organization reflecting the values of Vatican II.
Sr. Christine created and, with the assistance of Future Church staffers, administers four national dialogue projects -
- “Women in Church Leadership”
- “The Future of the Priestly Ministry”
- “Celebrating Women Witnesses” and the new
- “Save Our Parish Community” - project designed to preserve vibrant parishes in a time of fewer priests.
Future Church is presently working on an international email campaign to put women back in the Biblical picture at October’s Synod on the Word.

Call to Action: Robert Heineman
Mr. Heineman and his wife Eileen are involved in St. Nicholas Parish in Evanston, Illinois.
Bob was first attracted to CTA in 1995 when the organization sought ways to support the Bishop’s pastoral on peace.
He plays a significant role in advising, organizing, strategizing and encouraging actions for justice.
Pax Christi: Robert Keeler
Mr. Keeler is a member of St. James Parish in East Setauket. He has been on the Council of Pax Christi since 1991.
Pax Christi, the regional presence of the Catholic peace movement, strives to create a world that reflects the Peace of Christ by exploring, articulating, and witnessing to the call of Christian non-violence. It advocates primacy of conscience, economic and social justice and respect for creation.
SNAP: David Clohessy
Mr. Clohessy is National Director of The Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests.
SNAP is a volunteer self-help organization of survivors of clergy sexual abuse and their supporters. SNAP works to end the cycle of abuse by supporting one another in personal healing and by pursuing justice and institutional change by holding individual perpetrators responsible and the church accountable.
Voice of the Faithful: Daniel Bartley
Mr. Bartley and his wife Ellen have been married for 22 years and have three children.
An original founder of LIVOTF and currently serving as President of National VOTF, Dan is convinced that we must find ways to express an optimistic view of what our Church can become, while openly acknowledging the many challenges and disappointments we continue to face. He believes that furthering our mission and goals requires us to speak out in the ‘public square’, both locally and nationally regarding issues involving the Catholic Church, in order to truly become the VOICE of the Faithful.
Catholic Common Ground Initiative: Peter Denio
Mr. Denio lives in Fair Lawn, New Jersey with his wife Mary and their children.
He is Director for the Catholic Common Ground Initiative (CCGI) and Pastoral Services at the National Pastoral Life Center in New York City. CCGI was inaugurated by the late Cardinal J. Bernadine and originated in a concern that unnecessarily polarizing differences among church leaders and members hinder efforts to build the church community and carry out its mission.
